Father Stu a biopic about Stuart Long who went from Boxer to Catholic priest

The most underrated actor in Hollywood Mark Wahlberg stars in this biopic of Stuart Long who survives a motorcycle accident in the dead of night just outside of the city and experiences a spiritual moment of an angel visiting him and saving his life.

Once Stuart recovers physically, he is driven to fulfil the Angel's prophecy of turning his life around and joining the Roman Catholic clergy.

He had just started to date Carmen (Teresa Ruiz) and had to let her down as becoming a Roman Catholic priest you have to take a vow of celibacy as you're not only doing God's work, but you need to focus on your spiritual functions and essentially be married to God as a result.

Everyone in his circle of friends is shocked as well as his parents who are living separately and he is their only child.

His mother Kathleen Long (Jacki Weaver) painfully comes to terms with never having grandchildren while his alcoholic father William “Bill” Long (Mel Gibson) is a wreck and doesn't seem to be in the present to even care apart from the fact that his son Stuart will have to give up sex!

Still focussed on the job in hand Stuart is at first denied entry into his local Montana seminary, but after countless visits and pleas and even going to the Archbishop he finally is allowed entry, where he is joined with fellow parishioner Ham (Aaron Moten) but faces hostility with the other students notably Jacob (Cody Fern) of not only coming from a working class background, but full of sin and not only having sex, but not even marrying let alone before marriage.

Through his boxing career or the motorcycle accident Stuart develops difficulties in his physical motor coordination functions, leading to full blown paralysis due to progressive muscle disorder and he ends up in a wheelchair.

Undeterred and being kicked out of seminary school once again he fights to get back in and his fellow religious clergy students are more sympathetic towards him and even though his physical body is breaking down, the will to succeed turns the hostility into respect.

Stuart gets ordained and becomes the local priest in his neighbourhood and carries out his duties whether births, newborn blessings, weddings, funerals and visiting the less fortunate than himself like the homeless, the mentally ill and even criminals in jail, shows that his faith and religious conviction to serve others was unwavering and genuine even to the end of his relatively short life, but in the end well worth lived.

If you want to be or get inspired watch this film, as it truly is a blessing and Godsend.
