The entertainment world and fans of Friends say farewell to actor Matthew Perry who unexpectedly died at the age of 54.
Surprisingly, not many people know this apart from the cast and those in the television entertainment world that Matthew Perry actually wrote some of the lines he and his fellow cast members added to the storyline as a group of young twenty-somethings living together in New York.
He was very talented and most underrated due to his extensive work within television and was only cast like his fellow cast members of Friends were often typecast in romantic comedies rather than doing many television or films with real drama and dealing with challenging storylines, apart from Fat Man Little Boy, Call Me Anna, Deadly Relation, The West Wing, The Ron Clark Story, The Good Wife, The Good Fight, and The Kennedys: After Camelot.
Matthew Perry worked in small roles from the age of ten in American television programmes starting with 240-Robert, Silver Spoons, Second Chance (later revamped as Boys Will Be Boys), Growing Pains, Sydney, and Home Free.

In between roles Matthew Perry was a guest on satire sketches Not Necessarily the News and in the popular '90s American teen programme Beverly Hills 90210, and his first feature film A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon (also known as Aren't You Even Gonna Kiss Me Goodbye?) that also starred the late and then rising star River Phoenix.

His addiction to drink and drugs took a huge toll on his health, and he had fifteen operations on his stomach, which started after his colon burst in 2018.
Matthew Perry confessed to the world of his battle with drink and drugs and had to stop acting in Friends and a film he starred in, Serving Sara.
His co-stars in Friends saw the effects of Matthew Perry's addiction as he often came onto the set severely hungover and later on even was drunk or high on drugs on set, which led to them doing an intervention, which like in many cases was unsuccessful.
Matthew Perry later said in an interview that he had spent $9 million on drink, both medical and illegal drugs, fifteen stays in rehab placements, and 30-years in therapy.

Though Matthew Perry used his experience of addiction to help others and changing American policy in dealing with people with addictions as a spokesman for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals, and setting up his own rehab Perry House centre, which he was awarded a Champion of Recovery from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, over the years.
Matthew Perry won a Screen Actors Guild Awards as an Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, even China gave him a Huading Award for Best Global Actor in a Television Series and for the Editors Choice: TV Guide Awards.
